Ok I guess I cant deny it any more... I have been accused of it and I have to admit that I am gadget guy. I have gone off the deep end and converted the face plate on the wall clock to a MG Logo.

It turned out well I have to admit. I'm wondering how many other clocks I can convert. Maybe go and pick up a bunch of clocks like this one upgrade it to an MG clock and resell them on Ebay. Hmmmm I even remember seeing some true octagon clocks that I could do this to. I'm sure someone would want some. I may have just figured out a Fathers day present. To bad Mom will banish the clock to the garage if I do though.

This only needs one more thing. Maybe rather than using numbers for the hours use pictures of the car in different positions.

To get rid of this grin........ What a day..... 20 some degrees out there and sunny. In fact its so nice out it took me an hour to get home. OK there was a little traffic but that's not why. At about 1/2 way home I decided it was way to nice and I was having way to much fun driving around topless to let it end in less than 10 minutes so I zigged when I should have zagged and just kept on going. Yeah yeah yeah all you environmental hippy tree hugging freaks thinking I was wasting gas and polluting the environment needlessly....... BITE ME..... Your farts are causing global warming too.

With the old girl in storage last year I forgot what I was missing. The ultimate stress management drug is an MG in the the spring. The second is an MG in the fall and the third is an MG in the Summer in the okanagan. Why does summer come third? Well if you lived here in the 40 degree sun you would know why its not as good as spring and fall. Of course spring comes in first by a long shot cause its the end of winter. OK that's far to much thought into this. I think I need to go for a drive.

Ok OK I know its really spring but there is a roast on the rotisserie and its 27 degrees on the deck so that's good enough for me. Perfect day for a nice meat and potato dinner and some red wine on the deck. Not sure what we are having for desert yet. All I know is it has nuts in it.

Did you know there is the mans version of valentines day. Well Today is that day. Its called Steak and Blowjob day. Hallmark doest really have any cards to celebrate this event yet but hell this is an event for guys...... So really who cares..... Its about the Steak and Blowjobs not cards. In fact The reason this day is not as well known is because there is no money for the card companies to make from this day. So its all up to us to spread but its up to everyone of us to reinforce and communicate this lesser known event to the world. Tell everyone you know.

Advice to merging idiots

1. Don't come up behind me and switch into the other lane at the lights.... This is hint one you think you can get in front of me and are to impatient to be that one whole car length back. Wait like everyone else or at least don't make to so blatantly obvious. Maybe you didn't notice that every one else started the merge before the lights because they know 50 ft after the lane ends like the signs say.

2. Reaction time...... Get some it if you ever even hope to attempt this again. Hopefully you have learned your lesson. Maybe next time eveyone will leave you out in the other lane waiting.

3. Power..... You may want some of this too. At least enough to make me need the vtec or attempt to try and beat your sorry stupid ass rather than simply using 1/3 throttle.

4. If none of the rest work for you then you may want to try a rolling start to at least give yourself a chance.

5. Now this one is the obvious one....... Don't be such a fucking idiot did you really think you stood a chance to pass and merge in about 100 ft. from a dead stop or did you just plan on trying to push the lane that has the right of way out of the way.

I hope this helps all of you that fall into this Fucking moron group. The sunshine obviously does not make you faster or smarter. In your case it makes you stupider. Good luck tomorrow I hope you had enought time to leave the breadcrumbs so you can find your way back to work.

Got the results from the profile today and gee what a surprise..... Basically I don't suffer fools lightly. Boy figure that out by yourself Sherlock? I could have told you that. Kinda proves my next item though. I have high standards for myself and for others, but I have low expectations of others so tend to do it myself. Well no kidding after all I don't suffer fools lightly so why would I have high expectations. You have to prove yourself worthy to reach the inner circle. I also am very influential to bring people to my way of thinking. Again don't see a problem with that after all lead someone to the answer and they will own in. Give them the answer and they fight it.

Of course I apparently don't speak up when I disagree.... Those that know me will call that one a load of bull and say the test is a little wrong. I must have been having a good day when I answered that part. I think this comment applied more about the fact that until I have enough information to make an informed comment I will reserve judgement. After all its better than opening your mouth and proving your a fool. Then I would have to disown myself for being a fool and not meeting my high standards.

Remember..... Some people strive for mediocrity and fall short some times ..... I strive for perfection and never actually achive it but I am doing better than the first group. Now I have to spell check and proof read before posting this, and then check out my not quite perfect investment portfolio to see if there is something I can do better. :)

Customer Service should not require asking for a manager

I Received my last phone bill from Telus today. Charges for a whole month with only 4 days of service.... Hmmmm is this right.... NOPE. So I called them up. Of course using there 800 number rather than using up my minutes waiting on hold to talk to someone. After negotiating my way though automation hell I found the magic word needed to speak to a human.... Its "operator" by the way in case anyone needs it. After giving her the same information that I just finished telling the computer which didn't help me I told the girl my problem. She listened and looked ant the bill and tried to be helpful but said she couldn't do anything. So of course after voicing my dissatisfaction in the response (politely of course after all its not really her fault and she was trying to help out) I asked to speak to a manager about this. Guess what..... that's another magic word... That word appears to give CSR's the power to try and get me a credit for the part of the month I didn't have service but was being charged for........ It wasn't a oh no I guess I better look into this more or I may get in trouble reaction I got from her, it was more a you have the combination so I am now allowed to help you and do the Service part of CSR.

Hmmm theres 2 magic words for you in one post. Now everyone repeat after me "Operator" - This gets you a real person. "Manager" - This gives the human operator power to actually provide you with some customer service. Hopefully I will never need these magic word with Telus again (and as long as I get my rebate I shouldn't have to) but its good to know them. If I do have to use them I hope the CSR can be as helpful as Bec was after I used the magic word.

The question for today's story is "Why the hell does it take magic words like Operator and Manager to allow a real human customer service person the power to provide customer service?" (or in this case... former customer service)

Switching phone service

Yup I'm taking another techno leap forward and ditching the old fashion phone line and going to VOIP. I end up getting more features and number portablity for less money than I pay now. Got the equipment today and tested it out to make sure the quality was ok and all seems good so looks like I'm gonna keep it. My new phone number is 1-800-get-real... Extention "duhhh".... what do you think I'm stupid enough to post my phone number on the internet. I may look like an idiot but I'm not as stupid as my sister looks. :) Had to get her back for her snow comments on the last post.

Oh yeah by the way I found out why I havent got any mail in the last little bit. Phoned canada post and found out that the carrier cant open the lock on the mailbox so they keep bringing it back to the main building. will try and swing by there and pick up the bills tomorrow if I get a chance. Not sure I really want them but I guess I should see whats there.

OK that's enough bloody snow. If we get any more I think I'm going to go into hibernation for the rest of the winter. I'm sure the snow plows have started trucking snow in to put on my driveway. on the way home today the intersection at the end of the street had the usual piles and slop in it but then when I turned on to my street it was cleared..... That is the street was clear. All the snow that was on it is now blocking my driveway instead. Without a lie there is 1,000 ft of snow piled up in my front yard.

OK maybe that 1,000 feet isn't all in one pile but I bet if I could find a way to stack it up that high that there is enough of the crap in my yard to do it.

I got my order filled so I can tell you what it is now... LRA - LARA EXPLORATION LTD Price is down to $1.44 today. I bought a little higher than that but that's fine. It will return to well above my buy price anyhow. The bidders were controlling the sell price for the last couple days but that has changed today and the Ask is starting to be the selling price rather than bid so the trend is turning around.

I could get used to this holiday thing... sleeping in to 9 and doing whatever I want..... By the way incase you didn't know I am an elf....... well I had an email that said I was because I stopped by the other office to rub in being on holidays, oops I mean wish everyone a merry ho ho and happened to help solve a problem while I was there. Of course being that I was on holidays it couldn't have been me so it was an elf that looked like me that helped out.

By the way I have another 2 stocks to look at. Waiting for a bit of a correction and some profit taking to happen on the one before I buy... unfortunately it has just continued to go up since I decided I was going to buy when the price dropped about 5 - 10 %... Now if it drops back down to where it started I'll be happy and buy.

I realised this morning when I was on my way to work that I put my ring on before I left the house. I haven't warn it in about 2 years cause it wasn't fitting properly and was difficult to take off. That and I had a few people comment that they thought I was married cause of it even though it wasn't on that finger.

I guess I must be exercising my middle finger more and the 10 lbs I lost was all in that finger. The ring that was getting to small (or was it the finger that was getting to fat) is now loose on my finger again. I guess I should give more people the finger.

I need a nap. It was the Xmas party last night so I'm tired. Nooooo I'm not hung over. We had a good table of people. Of course we had that planned before we went. For the first time our table was called first for food. First feed was for tables that had someone with santa on there tie, and to think I almost didn't wear the santa tie. Food was good, music was ok. At least he played ACDC and some meatloaf.

What the $%#@ is up with this weather. I thought my radio was broken this morning when they said minus 26 degrees. But once I got outside, I'm pretty sure they were right. Then more snow tonight uggggggg!!!!!! Of course I heard the radio after the smoke detector went off for no reason and I got up to see what the heck was going on. Beeped a couple times and then stopped and no sign of smoke so I figured it was a glitch. Went to work and then to the offsite office for the afternoon and then when I left late to come home the SRS light never turned off in the car all the way home while battling people who decided they dont need snow tires and are slipping around. Off to the dealer tomorrow to get them to read the code in the computer to find out why the light is on. Oh but wait its not over yet. Get home and get out of the car in the garage and hear a buzzing noise coming from the house. The smoke alarm is going off and George is hiding in the basement trying to get away from it. God knows for how many hours its been screaming at the cat. So I have ripped both them off the ceiling and cleaned them out with compressed air and haven't heard them since. Will still have to test them to make sure they go off when they are supposed to though. The day isn't over yet still have to send off smoke signals, do laundry, eat din's and shovel the snow again so who knows what else will go wrong.

Update!!!

Oh great there's a heavy snowfall warning for tonight for the interior. Expecting 10cm of snow by tomorrow morning.

Opposable thumbs are important

In case you ever had any doubt, loosing use of just one thumb can make life difficult. Didn't realise how much until trying to do up buttons after slicing the tip of my left thumb. Nice clean cut no need for stitches but enought to remind you when you hit it or try to put any pressure on it.

If thats what seporates us from ape's, I guess that means I'm half ape for a while until the thumb is all better. Anyone have a bananna?

What the $%# is up with the weather. Minus 12 and a whole load of snow. I've had to shovel 3 times in the last 24 hours. Good thing I put up the xmas lights last weekend or I'd be doing it in the snow now. Oh well could be worse.... its -22 in Calgary right now and supposed to get down to -29 today.

This is my last 3 day weekend for the year. One more short week and then I have to work 2 whole 5 day weeks before I'm on holiday again. Not sure how I will survive.

I decided not to invest in TVC on the TSX Venture. I didn't like the numbers and seemed to speculative for me. I was looking at it about a month was around 2.50 and I didn't buy it. Up until this last week it was the right call. That changed when bad news at the cigar lake mines seem to have driven up the uranium demand and stock prices and TVC closed at 3.17 today or a 30 % increase in about a week. A little greater than BWR has done but I didn't have any more cash free to buy it anyhow. I wonder if it has anything left in it or if the bubble will burst on uranium? Supply is down with the bad cigar lake news so good old supply and demand should drive up the price and profits from uranium.

Oh well my resource based funds will love it.

Well a few referral's from finance related sites from my recent investment comments. So I decided to post more. I realize both my recent recommendations have actually gone down in the last couple days and if you purchased after me you may be in the red right now. Suck it up its not a quick buck and enjoy the ride with the ups and downs. The resource market is volatile so the ups will come again before you know it just don't be greedy. Chariot announced today a significant increase in resource estimates from a Peru location and opened 7% higher and went up to 8.5% early in the day. Unfortunately the entire market dropped about 160 pts shortly after reaching a record high and the resources took a hammering including bwr and chd.

Also LMK may come back on the list. They recently removed and appointed a new President and CEO. There are still some numbers in there financials that concern me, and some numbers that are not there at all that concern me even more. I'll be watching for audited statements and re-evaluate then.

Time to go update the portfolio from today's activities and remember a shortcut is often a bumpy road not a paved highway.

Ok well for those who have purchased it in the last couple weeks you know what I'm talking about. BWR on the TSX. 30% return in 10 days and its still going up. Percentage wise it has recovered the income trusts damage but unfortunately I only have 5% of the amount I had in Income trusts in this stock so in $$$ I haven't recovered from that Government introduced blow to the account with there taxation comment. I have another one resource company I'm going to buy a couple thousand shares of in the next couple days (once I have some cash in the account) If you ask nice I'll tell you then but I don't want you driving up the price on me before I can get my order filled. I did some research on the one to buy next today and they are another jr. Resource company and trending the same as BWR and another company that I think its to late for but with a slight delay so they appear to be ready for the same explosion that BWR has seen. BWR happened quicker than I was expecting and I missed my original buy price by about 7 % so maybe this one I can time a little better and end up with a better return again. Remember I am not telling you to buy anything so if you do and it goes down or you cant sleep at night because of the roller coaster ride..... don't call me, swear at me or blame me.... It's your choice and you can do your own research. No the other company is not LMK. My homework shifted them from the maybe list @ $.15 to a nope I don't see a good return list.

The Gym is a Gym and the office is back to an office only. No BED, No Home Gym in it any more.

Good news..... The Gym is pretty much done. Moved the weights down stairs tonight. Had to take it apart to get it out of the office anyhow so planned it so I could bring it down in 2 pieces (plus the weights of course). Its all downstairs now. My living room now has no bike in it, by office no longer has a home gym in it and my treadmill is in the same room as everything else. Just need a new TV. The one on the floor sucks and is temperamental so it needs to be replaced with a flat screen. I was looking at a 32" HDTV LCD today but it was $1000 for a RCA. A little bigger than I need down there and RCA isn't exactly a high end TV.

Well part of the basement is now painted. Doing the Kitchen/living room first. Painted the ceiling and walls and have ripped off the old baseboards and put down some contoured stuff to match the rest of the house. Still need to trim the windows and do all the filling and painting of the trim but then I'm done with that part of the basement. I have started fixing the walls and ceiling in the bedroom where the drywall tape was not put on properly. That will be a few days of work though as you cant rush mud. But when that's done I'll do some more painting and trim just like the rest of it. Haven't figured out what I'm going to do in the bathroom yet. Probably just trim and paint but the vanity should really be replaced to. Only problem is if I do that then I have to worry about flooring too and I don't want to go there so I'm not going to go there.

Well Pe-Brain moved here stuff out this weekend, and George is depressed. He walks around down there wondering what happened and keeps sulking in the bedroom. First his friend leaves but her smell was still around with the furniture and the scratching post, but now the furniture is gone too.

Well now the basement is mine again I started to do demolition today. Fixing up the walls ready to repaint and decided to change all the baseboards to make it match the rest of the house while I'm at it. So...... I guess I wont be setting up my gym just yet. Gotta get some paint tomorrow and before I put down the new trim. I'll save the bedroom and bathroom for later. I think I'll have to replace the blinds too though. Cats have kinds wrecked the old ones over the past 5 years.

Well I better phone pe-Brain and see if shes there yet.... Yup she is there and unpacking. Doing the most important task. Setting up the TV.

Looks like there is moisture between the pains of glass. I hoped it would go away when I cleaned them but its there still. Wonder how much its going to cost to replace a big picture window.

Sarahs coming home again. Shes so loud and disruptive in the basement not sure how I'll get any sleep this weekend. Might have to send the attack cat down to sort her out. Hes been wondering where she is and moping around like someone ran over his favorite toy.

Anyhow I think the cold is finally going away Day 1 was a killer then it went away for the most part but stayed around just enough to be annoying.

This week doesn't seem the same without a new Ricky Gervais episode. Series 3 is over and based on the decline in quality and humor in the last 2 series I dont think there will be a 4 th. Should have quit after the first one before it went down hill.

Ok well not really but I'm current offering a cold to anyone who wants it. No charge. Grrrrrrrr Woke up this morning feeling a little rough and now I feel like shit.

So where does the software vendor part of this come to play? I had an email this morning asking me how to test a fix that they have attempted to fix on numerous occasions. I guess this is because they have passed there testing on this a couple times and then I have found problems when I start testing. It sounds bad that they don't know how to test the product but this worked out well for me. Rather than having the fix sent out to us and then have it applied and installed on the server and my computer to test the supplier did the testing that I would have done and found another problem. Just saved us a couple days worth of work to go through all the crap to find the error.

Just picked up one of those raining type of shower heads and put it in. The old one needed to be replaced anyhow. Sooooooo I went and rolled around in the dirt so I would need a shower to try it. It really is like its raining in there. I'm used to having high pressure fairly narrow sandblasting head in there but the new head is like 12 feet wide. Ok maybe its only about 5 - 6 inches.

Yeah right..... Like I would be a member of a country club. I think they would kick me out for my sense of humor. Returned from a retirement party at the club though and had a message from Calgary saying it was F#$%#$g snowing. Well it was a little cool here, it was 14 degrees (sorry 15 degrees) at the airport and 18 degrees on my deck. It's almost cool enough to need pants instead of shorts.

there's reason one why I live in Kelowna and not is a place where it snows in September. I still have the same snow shovel I bought when I bought the house 6 years ago and its still going strong. There are many other reasons but I will add them with each example. Shouldn't be long till there's another news article about a murder or drive by shooting or gang stabbing in Calgary.

It all makes the gas price in Kelowna a little easier to swallow.

By the way George Wanted to have his picture posted again. One where is shows hes really not as much of a pussy as he looked in the thunder picture. Anyhow here he is checking out what I was working on last night. He's nosey isnt he. I think he was really trying to get his picture online for Molly to see since she moved away. I dont know what those two talked about when no one was home but I imagine it would be something like the cows in the farside cartoon but with cats.

Ha Ha.. Are you sick of all those stupid I need validation that your my friend email virus.... I mean emails? You do realize that they are really virus dont you. Its just a lazy or manual virus that just asks you to spam everyone you know because the creator is to lazy or stupid to know how to do it without you knowing. If this is you then this is for you.

I told him that they were going to Calgary, and he asked nicely if he could go with them to visit Molly. He promised to be quiet and sit in his cage the entire trip and not ask "Are we there yet" and said that he would bring his own food and everything but they said no to him.

Great now I have to put up with him moping around and giving me attitude for a couple days again. He just stopped giving me the finger (or claw) when I walk by for changing his food.

Get your mind out of the gutter....

Got a 26er of single malt scotch given to me this afternoon. It was for fixing someone's computer and cleaning off some virus, trojans spyware and driver problems. Ok there was about 10 hours trying to find all the problems and clean them but some of that was waiting for installs and system scans. I probably would have just spend it screwing around on the computer anyway.

Old server is now down

Well as I have pretty much dismantled my server. Well turned it off anyhow I decided to use this instead. After all I dont really need to run a file/webserver any more with the 2 new drives giving me about .5 TB of storage on this machine. I just need to find a good place to host pics that either gives me free PHP hosing so my scripts will still work. Will have to check out Flickr I hear they do a pretty good job.

In the mean time I'll seek how this site does for pics attached to posts and upload one of the cat trying to hide from the thunder.
